Emily’s Metabolic Balance Journey
AS A Registered NURSE, I ALWAYS THOUGHT OF MYSELF AS ‘HEALTHY’.
But, looking back on myself then, I was far from it.
I have always battled with acne, getting deep cystic breakouts. I have also dealt with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), perioral dermatitis, depression, bloating, food sensitivities and poor thyroid dysfunction.
Although I have been mindful of my health since falling pregnant with my son (which is when I gave up smoking and drinking regularly), I was still just ‘not quite right’.
Like many of you out there, I experimented with various dietary ideas like gluten-free, dairy-free, paleo, plant-based and keto. But each time I started a new pattern of eating, I would feel amazing for a week or two, then crash and burn. I also tried roacutane for my skin, which gave me some improvements, but I still didn’t have happy skin or a happy body.
As I finished my studies as a Clinical Nutritionist, I was offered the Metabolic Balance® Program to once and for all settle my heath problems. I was skeptical, having spent the last 7 years battling with different ‘diets’ and supplement regimes and really achieving nothing but a lot of wasted $$$.
3 years later, here I am, feeling the best I have felt in ages. I am no longer fatigued. My brain actually works. My body feels strong.
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE KNOWN ME OVER THE YEARS, I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ‘SLIM’.
But for a time there, I was really ‘skinny’, dropping to a very low BMI, then, during all the COVID stuff, I put on a few kilos and got pretty ‘puffy’! This was not deliberate. I have always eaten loads of vegetables and protein (both animal and plant-based).
In each of these photos, you can see me on the left at the beginning of my Metabolic Balance® journey in July 2020. I was puffy, bloated, and felt full all the time - but not the good full. The kind of full where you can feel it in the back of your throat all the time.
On the right-hand side of each of the photos is me after only 8 months following my personalised Metabolic Balance® Program, feeling refreshed, light and awake.
SO WHAT CHANGED?
I found out EXACTLY what my body needed to be amazing. My Metabolic Balance Program® told me which proteins work for my biochemistry and metabolism. It told me what quantities and ratios of protein, vegetables, and fruit to eat to ensure my body can sort itself out.
AND IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT THE WEIGHT….
Although I have found my body’s optimal weight and composition, my fatigue has also improved out of sight. No longer do I get to 2 pm and crave sugar and coffee to help me see the rest of the day out.
I wake up in the morning, and I am actually awake. My morning coffee (if I even choose to have one) is enjoyed as a drink, not as a drug to make sure my brain is switched on.
My body composition has improved without making changes to my exercise regime (which involves moving most days and a 20 min weights session 1-2 times per week).
Now, I don’t explode with rashes and food reactions every time I eat and feel confused about what the hell is going on in my body.
I have finally achieved the freedom of feeling amazing and can’t wait to see how my body continues to balance and improve.
